Sustainability

Householders do the right thing each week when they put out their recycling, food and rubbish bins. However, there is some confusion about what we do with our soft plastics.

As a parish we are embarking on our sustainability journey with small steps looking at doing what is right and raising awareness about what you should do to recycle your soft plastics. The most important thing to remember is that it must not go into your council recycling bin or the rubbish bin. If you scrunch the plastic into a ball in your hands, it can go into the soft plastic recycling bins which are located in some supermarkets where they provide bins to dispose your clean and dry soft plastic packaging – (yes, you will need to clean and dry your soft plastic before recycling it).

Several Kiwi companies use this plastic to convert them into fence posts, garden beds, rails, bollards and even garden furniture.

Thank you for doing your part in helping make this world created by our God, a better place for future generations.
